Wildlife Photography is a great way to photograph the wonderful life that God has given us to enjoy. This kind of photography is extremely popular and some out there do nothing but wildlife. There are so many types of wildlife that takes a lot of time to be successful. However, today people use their phone camera to capture a nice photograph to share on social media. Wildlife is always on the move and the best success is to leave the camera at home and stay on site where you expect to be. This way you learn a lot about the type of wildlife in the area
As popular as wildlife photography is, it is not one of my favorites. The only exception are birds and small wildlife such as lizards. I have a Canon 90D crop camera that has high speed shooting which helps when the subject is moving a lot and fast. To make it easier, I will use a soft flash system to allow a faster shutter. Most of the time I will use my Canon 100-400 F/4-5.6 telephoto lens because I have a lot of flexibility when it is needed. I also sometimes use the Canon 1.4x Extender to extend the 400mm of the telephoto to 560mm.
I usually prefer birds that are not flying, although I do have better luck with hummingbirds. Most of the time I will take a tripod or monopod with a Gimbal so that when I spot a subject, I can react fast. Birds when they perch do not stay long. Shorebirds are a little easier because they are in water swimming around. For other birds in flight, I have not had much luck with that. A mirrorless camera has advantages here so maybe that would help.
